— Overview
The Challenge
Client needed confidence the jib crane’s structural members could carry rated load without excessive deflection at full boom reach, the point under greatest bending stress.
Engineering Approach
A simulation model replicated real operating loads at the boom tip. Stress and deflection were evaluated against structural limits to flag any members near their margin.

1T Rated Load Verified Within Limits
Structural analysis confirmed the crane’s members stayed within safe stress and deflection limits at full boom extension. Deflection at the tip measured 24mm under the 1T rated load, well inside allowable limits, with a calculated factor of safety of 2.2 across the critical members.
